WORDS Devin Yates
As one of Wind Creek Hospitality’s newest charitable projects, a food truck called Good To Go came to Montgomery, Alabama on September 24th. The purpose of this visit was to honor Montgomery’s first responders, more specifically the entire fire department.
I arrived at the training center for the Montgomery Fire Department and was greeted by the kind and cheerful Heather Norton, the marketing coordinator for Good To Go. She introduced me to Chef Paul Norton and his crew. They would be preparing 200 meals on their state of the art food truck which gets inspected by the health department once a quarter. Chef Paul showed me the blackened beef tips, wild rice, and roasted vegetables that the fire fighters and recruits would be receiving. Everything looked and smelled delicious.
As I watched fire fighter after fire fighter receive their complimentary surprise meal, my heart warmed by their grateful nature. One fire fighter said, “We love what we do and we don’t get this very often. We love Good To Go because we love to eat!”
Look for Good To Go October 17th and 18th at the Scott Safety Fire Fighter Combat Challenge in downtown Montgomery. Follow the truck here.
